I have a 40+ year old 8" Craftsman table saw that has build several garages, sheds and major portions of two houses. It belonged to my father, I used it when I was a kid in late 50's (back before OSHA and other safety concerns - the chemistry set I had then could make bombs and poison the whole family). The saw still runs good. I think the motor is only about 1 HP. The only problem I have is the small table size. I just use 7 1/4 inch circular saw blades in it and blow the dust out of the motor after each project.
