: Hi Jay;

: First of all, I'll point out again that I lifted this idea from Vaclav, who
: shows it on his site at Ocean Kayak. I hope to make some improvements to
: the implementation the next time around, but I can't take credit for the
: concept.

: Before I remove the lamination from the deck, I'm going to attempt trimming
: the bottom of the lamination with a hand held router and a laminate bit.
: That will trim both the original plywood and the glass at the same time.
: After the layup is removed from the deck, I was going to try to trim
: around the outside edge with my bandsaw first, followed by the belt
: sander. If that proves difficult, then I will one-by-one go through my
: tools to see what works!

: I too like the idea of a bit of material contrast on the deck, but I've yet
: to figure exactly how I will get the color I want on the coaming. I need
: to develop a light beige color for it to come out like I was planning. I'm
: starting to seriously consider powdering some common kid's chalk . . .

: Best Regards, Spidey

very nice , Spidey

Would a sprinkling of wood flour in some epoxy against the background of white already done give the color family you want? Hard to control thickness(and therefore color density) maybe
