In Response To: PIONIER sails (Rick Carlsen)

Pionier went out of business sometime in the 60s I'm told. I bought a used 2 man one with sails a couple of years ago to restore. It's a wood framed folding kayak. They were made either in Germany or Austria. My sails are shot but I'm curious too how they would be attached. I asked my father, an old salt, and he couldn't definitively figure it out either. I'm not sure if I have all the pieces. Let me know if you ever get it figured out.

Thanks,

Gary B.

: I just purchased two PIONIER kayak sails at a flea market. I believe they are
: complete. One set has a jib. Both masts are squared on the bottom.

: Do you know how to assemble the sails? Why is the only mast connection done
: with a rope only halfway up the secondary mast?

: Where to find info on PIONIER kayaks?

: Rick Carlsen Sunnyvale CA USA

: I tried to contact Doug Miner who posted a message last year looking for
: sails. The message bounced. Anyone know where he is?
