Wood Flour - Flour?

I know I'm asking for it, but here is my question anyway:
When I ran about a cup short of wood flour in building my kayak, the folks at MAS said that clean sawdust might do in a pinch as homemade wood flour. In a posting by Lee on CLC's forum, he mentioned whole wheat flour as a filler/thickener (not in a good way). I'm no engineer, and not even much of a boatbuilder, but would it work?
