: I've been looking at/reading about the "V" type downwind sailing
: rigs. They look super simple, which is great. Just wondering about any
: design details, deck attachment point, etc. Are there any plans available
: for these rigs?

There was one detailed in sea kayaker abt 2-3 yrs ago by Didier Plouhiec(? sp is wrong). I think it could actually reach but couldn't tack w/o being slightly dismantled and set up again. The next yr he came out with a 'batwing' type - more complex, less easy.

Basically it is 2 @ 4.5 ft poles w/ one end tied (clipped or whatever) to deck fittings about 4ft in front of the paddler. If the wind is on yr rt. the pole clipped on the rt fitting leaned over to the left forming the 'boom' (and was the closest of the two to the paddler) and the pole on the left leans slightly to the rt and is the mast. Left pole tied to bow and 2 lines to ea side of cockpit making a sorta triangle. Line from left pole to cockpit for setting. Switch poles for the other tack. I think the area is abt 1.5 yd(sqrd)

A cumbersome setup w/ scope for improvemt.
