: Thank you for helping.

: I couldn't find Putz's book, but I did find this book Canoecraft, wich gives
: me those numbers you mentioned, and several canoe designs. All the designs
: were all-wood canoes, and the process seemed simple enough that I'll be
: trying that instead, if the canvas doesn't turn out.

The Canoecraft book is a classic. You will enjoy reading it, and it may influence you to build a wood strip boat. But, the methods used in that book are not the same as in Putz's book, and without Putz's book and illustrations, my numbers won't make much sense.

Amazon.com has the Putz book at a fair price -- even with the shipping -- but you might also check with your local bookstore. The Amazon.com page has the ISBN number of the book, and any bookstore can use that to order the book for you. Here is a link to it.

If you like Canoecraft, I recommend four more books on building woodstrip boats. The same author did Kayakcraft. Another one is by David Hazen -- he includes fullsize plans for several canoes and two kayaks, which makes the price a steal.

Then there is one by Gil Gilpatrick. he includes reduced size drawings you can enlarge easily onto a grid for making the building frames.

and then, of course, there is that obscure text by ol' whats-his-name, the host of this bulletin board.

Hope this helps
