I would guess that all builders would have variation in building times, depending on work habits, dedication (my wife calls is it an" obsession")... I'm guessing on average some where between 200-250 would be more accurate for my style of building. A friend and I are in the middle of building two 20' doubles and so far we have invested just over 400 hour combined, we will be varnishing soon. I have tried to keep a daily journal of the every day events. Have a look if you like. But keep in mind that the single will go much faster.

When I hear this question, the question can really mean, How long till its on the water? Generally it takes a month of prep, Gathering supplies, milling lumber, making forms and strongbacks etc. Then a month of building, and a month of finishing. Tack on a few weeks just for being lazy. I created a detailed project plan and stuck to it, like "first strip will be on the form by June 1 2000".. "Glassed by July." "In the water by May 1". It's my way of keeping myself on track.
