Spidey,

I thought it was easy. I used a foam brush as recommended here and it worked great. Perhaps even better than an expensive bristle brush, as the foam will not leave behind bristles. Took nearly 24 hours before hard enough to sand. I had no runs or sags, but probably brushed it a bit more than needed. I was taught to put it on as thick as you can without runs/sags for faster build-up.

The rep may be right, but I think the difference in difficulty of application is probably not too big a hurdle for someone who can build a kayak out of sticks.

I also figured I have the option to use a different/better varnish for the topcoat if required.

BTW: On my first coat, 5 minutes after the varnish starting losing it's tackiness the boat was in the water. I returned 6 hours later. I was impressed as to how hard the varnish was in such a short time. I could only find a few minor surface scratches that faded with the next coat.

Happy Buiding-
