The original poster said it was a (Pygmy) Coho -- which uses butt joints, not scarf joints. The hull panels are joined by laying down lightweight fiberglass tape over the joint, using unthickened epoxy. When the epoxy didn't cure, the poster would be able to peel the tape right off -- so you're right -- at this point, there is no fiberglass involved.
