Like George says, if you have a desired width and height, you need to scale the length to give you the volume necessary to float the boat and paddlers. This is how I came up with a 25.5' boat when I designed my Fast Double. It is 21 inches wide, and draws about 4 inches. The boat is fast and stable and a lot of fun to paddle. Although I installed a rudder, I typically don't use it.
