The nature of the compound curve just about ensures tape will not lay worth a darn there. If it were me, I'd rip it off, and do the job again. But I'd do the job differently.

Ditch the tape and use scrap cloth instead. Cut pieces to the size you want *on the bias*. These pieces will lay well. Build it up to the thickness you want, and then fair it out. If you're carefull, you can fair it out a good bit initially by laying progressively smaller strips of bias cut cloth.
