Mostly 80 grit to start, then finer (100 or 110?) though I may have gone to 65 for some really fast repairs on bad areas of fiberglassing. Since I was working with square edged strips that were 7/8 to an inch wide (cut from 5/4 deck lumber)I had to remove a lot of edges to get a smooth, rounded hull.

I learned the hard (literally) way that mixing too big a batch of resin slows things down. I could not get the stuff on the boat fast enough. It started to set up, and whatever I put on after that point would not wet out the cloth, although I could squeege it through so it bonded the cloth to the wood. I had a large area to remove and a belt sander did the job in a hurry.
