Stems and Visual Laryngitis

Hi All;

My excuse for no posts the last few days has been a lack of photos, owing to the untimely death of my compact flash reader - I have a card full of pix and no way to get it into the computer . . . Some people talk with their hands . . .

Thanks to all who suggested laminating external stems in hardwood. I bought a nice white ash board and sliced some of it into 1/8" thick strips and laminated the stems both fore & aft. Not only does it add a nice detail, but that ash is some hard stuff! I finished planing the bow stem and I am impressed - -

Oh yea . . . Then I took the rest of the ash and laminated it into a big block and carved a figurehead that I then mounted to the bow. It is a partially clad lady riding a horse and holding a flag. I even used mother-of-pearl and jade for her eyes. Too bad I can't show you a picture of it . . . 8-)

Best Regards, Spidey
