I checked with Bob Field of Crown Tool & Supply (Oregon) regarding the availability of Carbide Rotary Cutters. His response was....

Brian,

No, the reason people use carbide is for durability but it does not sharpen as keenly as steel and in the thicknesses that are needed for rotary cutters it would likely be too brittle. Also, the cost of carbide is usually 4-6 times more costly than steel.
