Hi Ian;

Yes, he was referring to the same polyester resin they use to make the glass layups on some of their boards. He said when they make a polyester layup, the last coat of resin is mixed with some sort of wax, which makes it sandable. Without the wax, it is nearly impossible to sand properly. They then sand and buff up a really great finish. When they use epoxy, they leave the last coat at 80 grit to give the polyester resin + wax some tooth to grab onto for a mechanical bond, and proceed to coat, sand and buff. I really don't think I could produce anything nearly as good (from experience 8-) using a brush. These boards sell for $2-3,000 a pop and they DO look good . . .
