Hi Chris I have a Redbird that I built as my first strip boat. It is a good canoe fast, no bad habits, and great to paddle solo leaned over. If you do a lot of trips it is not a deep boat so the load that you can carry is not as great as a prospector. A freind of mine built a Readbird and added one strip at the shear line to get a little more freeboard, and it worked out ok. I used the Canoecraft book from about 15 years ago for plans and found no real problems with the offsets. email if you have more questions.
