Quent, it's an interesting question --- and I don't have a clue. But I'd bet if you checked out some of the web sites on Ken Winters' page of skin boat addresses at http://home.adelphia.net/~kwinter/native.html, you'd be able to find out if anyone's thought of it or tried it out. Or try emailing Mark Rogers at Superior Kayaks at skayaks@aol.com; he runs a good school on skin boat building. You could also ask Ralph Diaz, the guru of folding boats, if he's heard of any attempts to use it in folders: rdiaz@ix.netcom.com.

If you go to Winters' site, check out the work of David Zimmerly and some of the other scholars in this field. They might even give you some ideas.

If you find out anything interesting, let us know, too.
