that flat spot won't affect paddling a bit, with clear varnish it won't be noticable unless you look for it, in other words looking down the keel line for flat spots. don't try cabosil as a fairing compound,it isn't clear,and it's a little like sanding a rock.I suppose it's possible to put on multiple coats of resin,but most likely that will focus so much attention on that one imperfection at this stage of the game, go ahead and continue with the fun and see if you want to try and fill it later with resin, 1/8 is sounds like too much to fill with resin. I think if there's a museum for s&g kayaks then we're in big trouble
