I had also wondered about a couple of other possibilities: 1) taking a little of the lower lip off the cove...?? 2) using the 1/4" B&C on 3/16th" material, centered on the pieces and making the softer cove and bead..??

Actually, I believe the only way to lesson the gaps on the outside, if indeed they are all that much, would be to use narrower strips. ( ie. 1/2" or 3/8" wide strips. The more strips in a given space, the less the angle of each intersection, therefore, narrower gaps. There are those who have used 3/16th" thick strips and those who have used narrow strips, so, maybe some input from them????
