Sound bites are quick little ads that flash one quick idea rather than a large concept. It supposedly started with Music Television in the 1980's with a quick little animated MTV between every song. Most of the ads in the US geared toward youth use these types of messages. No substance, but a lot of flash and glitter, and all very quick.

A lot of the psychologists in the US claim that our youth have shorter attention spans than others, because of our "MTV" "Sound-bite" mentality.

At any rate, I'm not advocating that you suggest advertising on MTV, but you could just publish a simple ad in kayaking magazines showing a photo of your boat, maybe large text "Gunn Kayaks" (or whatever the project title is) and your company's URL at the bottom. You can't truly convey all the design properties you want a potential customer to appreciate in a small ad, so you can at least entice them to look up your website where you can more fully educate them on your product.

If you've never heard of sound bites, I'd say you're lucky! :)
