I'm looking at building a Weekender too. Although it will probably be a year or two before I get to it. I my build a sailing dingy (Payson/Bolger) first too, so I can learn to sail first. I'll have to move my MG out of the garage when I decide to finally do it, it's a little beamier than a kayak.

I love the lines on that boat but the cabin is a little bit small. I don't think you can put a head in easily. It costs about twice as much as a strip kayak and takes about the same amount of time to build one.

For those of you who haven't heard of a Weekender here's a pic and a link. I've been wanting to see one in person but haven't found one in the Puget Sound area yet. There is supposed to be one in Sequim but could find the owners name in that area.
