I agree with Jim. You're probably seeing strip boats, but their made with peices of strips. The 3x stripping time applied to me as well. I did nothing special on the hull of my Guillemot and it took about 30 hours. I went nuts on the deck (relatively) and it took 100 hours. I have a sequence of photos on my website showing the deck construction if you're interested.
