Dave, I am almost building. I designed my own simple kayak just for fishing. It is short and wide(10 feet long, 32 inches wide). The only reason I am building it is so I can go fishing by myself and get on the water.
After researching kayak building on the web, I have become interested in all the wonderful kayaks I have seen. I thought all kayaks were the plastic kind like you find in the stores. I really like the wood strip kayaks I have been seeing, and I might build a "proper" strip kayak next year.
