An addendum to Shawn's post:

The fastening method shown works well if you have solid sheer clamps to screw them into, as on a CLC boat. On a Pygmy boat I'd want to back the rigging attachment points with solid wood. This would be easy to do if the deck was not yet attached to your boat. It may still be possible if you are planning to cut hatches and/or have very long arms. (See other recent posts on arm length issues)
