Hi Ross,

I think the dimension I wound up with was about 16 5/8" in height. The other numbers I just left alone and faired the form with a batten and an eyeball. I made my patterns out of poster board. After finishing all the patterns, I laid them one on top of the other and trimmed the center form a bit more, until It looked "right" to me. Fortunately, this worked out well, although I wonder what the original depth of the boat is intended to be....mine may be a bit shallower. I finished my boat this summer and it handles very nicely...very fun to paddle (btw... I had the chance to paddle a kayak for the first time recently...a 15.5' clc. Those things paddle so easy and are much more stable than I ever imagined....I gotta build one soon!). The keel and shear lines of my canoe are fair and everything came out straight.....'cept for one little wiggle in the keel strip that I induced when I fitted a strip too tightly on one side and pushed the keel strip a bit out of line in that spot. It wouldn't even be noticeable.....'cept I got my keel strip, center strip on the deck and my stems from a piece of purple heart. There is a very nice looking, dark purple stripe right down the center of my boat.......with one little wiggle in the keel....not even noticeable unless you site the keel with the boat turned up side down....and on a good day the keel strip stays in the water....only the fish can tell. You might just get the patterns from Mac. They are still $20.00 last I checked (actually, I checked on the patterns for the melonseed skiff, but all his patterns are priced the same). I'd just calibrate my eyeball and start drawin'. Garland
