Fist off, I have never paddled or even seen a Yare, but I did look at the lines in Chris K's book. I'd have to belive that its much closer to the "easy to turn" end of the scale than the "strong tracking" end.

I had the chance to paddle three of the Guillemot boats at the Newfound Rendezvous last weekend: the Guillemot, the Night Heron, and the Expedition Single. The standard Guillemot turns on a dime. As Ross says it's a great boat for poking around in tight spaces. The Expedition Single is one of the strongest tracking boats I can remember paddling. The Night Heron is a nice compromise between the two.

Based on a 15-minute paddle, I'd say the Expedition Single is one of the last boats I'd expect to NEED a skeg.
