The cable spacing of 4" outside to outside makes the spacers stay pretty much in line as this is exactly their i/s diameter so that they can't get too much outa whack. The forms are drilled to the 1/4" steel cable diam at 3 3/4" c/l to c/l so they will exactly line up when the cable tension is extreme while the tires are spinning. Incidentally, I would take a good run at it - say 20mph - then your forms will be really clean and sawdust free!!! Assuming that the tree and the trailer hitch were perfectly in line - every thing should be ok. But if not, since every thing is now still loose (wedges aren't driven in yet), take out your crowbar, lever the cables in alignment, and drive the wedge.

The pipes would have to be cut at exactly 90 deg or you'll get rockers and who the heck knows what else.
