scraper, surform, random orbit, hand sand

Get one of those 4 sided paint scrapers with a beefy handle and grind a curve onto it. This hogs out most of the stuff really quickly (couple of hours). Touch up with a surform. Sand where possible with a random orbit sander held on a slant (be careful). Sand by hand for the rest (takes a long time and isn't fun).

This part overall was not too fun - but really makes a difference when you go to lay fiberglass inside.
