10 oz. is way too heavy and will suck up resin like a sponge and will makey your kayak much too heavy. I hate to give you bad news, but obviously this is your first boat. Two layers of 6 oz will take less resin than a 10 oz cloth. Then you have to fill that aggressive 10 oz. weave which eats up more resin. If you bought it and havn't started, I would highly recommend saving it for gutter repair and send away for 6 oz ... I even use 4 oz on my deck top.

I don't even ust that 9 oz. seam tape any more because of the resin and weave filling properties. I use 6 oz. cloth for the inner seams and 4 oz. for the outer .
