In keeping with the wood theme I made some mods to Nick's footbrace for the fact that I widened the boat 2 inches and added a footrest at the bottom so i am not putting alot of tension on the steering lines. I guess I'm one of those people that can't leave anything alone wihout changing it, even the boat is 95% 1/8" black ash with the remainder being mahogany ,birch and even some 1/8" cedar encapsulated in 4 oz glass for the bulkheads with a strip of 1/2" foam under the bottom edge sealed with polyurethane caulk the boat is 19 ft long and weighs 55 lbs, A bit heavy but I like it. I will probably build a Night Heron (without mods Nick) when I get some more paddling experience under my belt and some more lard from under it, Nick sure does design and build some beautiful and spirited boats.
