The method you are asking about is called stitch and glue. The cost ranges from $200 to $800 for a boat. There are a lot of plans and kits out there. They are pobably the easiest and fastest boats to build. My first boat was a Pygmy Arctic Tern that I never get to paddle anymore because my wife always wants to use it. Many people will also recomend CLC boats, but I have no experience with them. There are also other plans available for free.
