The durability will depend on the effort you put into construction. If you make a mistake in your strip alignment, and have to sand or plane a lot of material off, you will have a thin spot. If you are not willing to go back and redo that section, strength will suffer. With that said, I have had 800 pounds in my strip canoe and crashed into rock very solidly on fast moving water with only minor damage. The materials are very strong, it's the craftsmanship can make the difference.
