There was a string earlier this summer about the method used by Struer Sprintboats (with links to their site). They use mahogany veneers, though I think their production process is more sophisticated than regular cold molding, using elevated-temperature-curing resin systems, etc. I inquired about their production process and received a kind email response promising to send a pamphlet on the subject by snail mail, but I never got anything.

I too am curious about cold molding or similar methods for kayak construction, so I'd be interested to hear anything you find out.
