I built mine with many wires very tight and close. particularly at those pointy ends, where the wood was very determined to pop apart. In some areas, I had trouble with the wires ripping out, and restitched those areas by either using more wires, or setting back further into the wood, or both. In other areas the panels were inherently tight, so the wire was there more for procedure then tension.

My only substantial mistake was to blithly snug up all my wires, somehow forgetting that my panels were not shaped perfectly. I even managed to miss this up through glassing the hull. It wasn't easy to miss, but I did. In hind sight, and for a second boat, I'd adjust tension as needed in areas, leaving gaps, to better fair the lines of the boat. The results are not horrible, but instead of smoothly flowing chines, I have somewhat wavy chines.

When I cut the wires, at no point did anything ever move, crack, or pop. My internal fillets were excessively large too. I really could have gone smaller and followed manufacturers recomendations, I just didn't quite believe it at the time.
