Have the same problem, but want to defer revarnishing till next winter. Can I safely remove all deck hardware, revarnish, and then return the hardware in the same holes, without creating leaks? Is there a sealant of caulking that I should put on the bolts? (small machine screws for deck rigging and larger bolts for hatch webbing)
