In Response To: Wood seal coat (Doug K.)

I applied several coats of epoxy (in one application) until it didn't soak into the wood any more in most places. This left an uneven surface and I will now have to do some sanding being careful not to sand into the wood and leave lighter colored spots. Approximately two ounces of epoxy and most of the sanding could have been saved but this is no big deal. Since most of the strength comes from the glass I'm not as concerned about the strength. I was concerned the wood would absorb more resin in areas when the glass was wet out and leave areas starved for resin but this doesn't sound to be a problem. On the rest of the boat I think I will go for the lighter application. Thanx for all your input and peaceful journeys!
