I would definitely rip cut it first, dry fit it, and make any corrections with a plane, or disk sander. I could probably use a router, too. When it was good I'd glue it in place. Would I use a table saw? Probably not, but that is because I usually use a radial arm saw for ripping my strips, and not a table saw. I'd use the same basic setup and probably get a strip that that was anywhere from 1/4 to 3/8 inch wide, depending on how far from the fence I set the sawblade. I don't think I own a razor saw.

A strip that narrow would be extremely flexible and easy to fit. You could hold it in place with a few staples.

I could cut a matching piece very easily if the top edge was square or a simple bevel. The narrower the cap strips the less you would have to bevel them. the matching piece would be set in place without without glue, and later strips would be glued to it, but the joint between the hull and deck would be unglued, allowing me access to the interior, until I chose to join those tow parts.

Why cut strips on a radial arm saw? I know you will eventually ask. The two big reasons are that the table is longer and I can put in a very long piece of material for a fence. That helps me keep the lumber going through the saw in a straight line. A couple of side benefits I have noticed are serendipitous. The table of my radial arm saw is a few inches higher than the handles of some two-wheel hand trucks I have, so I can clamp a piece of scrap wood to these handtrucks, and use them as supports for the lumber and wood strips as I cut.

Hope this helps
