I don't know what kind of playboat a shortened Guillemot would make, but I do know fitting a skeg on a white water hull will make it track as well as a sea kayak. Make the skeg retractable and you have a dual purpose boat; solid tracking on the slow stretches and manuverable in the fast stuff.
