Call me impatient, but I hate waiting for epoxy to cure. I bought some solvent based wood dough from a woodworkers supply store. For redwood I found that Cherry was an almost perfect match and for pine the Ash color matched very well. As stated earlier, wet them out to test final color match. Solvent based wood fillers dry almost instantly and you will find it best to take a small ball in your fingers, close the can immediately and rub the dough into the cracks at an angle to the crack. The stuff dryed about the consistency of the wood in a few minutes and can be sanded almost immediately. I have had no bonding issues with the epoxy, but then my widest crack is only 1/32 or so.
