Previous responses seem to indicate that you're looking for a "Euro-paddle" made from wood, Bob. If that's not the case, or if you're open to other ideas, there's a lot of good information on the web about carving Greenland paddles, as well. These indigenous paddles complement some of our wooden boats --- particularly those with "Greenland" lines and habits --- but I started paddling a Greenland (sometimes called "Inuit", but that's apparently taking on a non-PC connotation these days) "q-tip" paddle when I was pushing my plastic Sea Lion around in my earliest days of paddling, and it responded very well as a touring paddle. For a start, try George Ellis' very descriptive site at http://www.wcha.org/paddles/greenland.html for a look. (Will try to put it in the right window for a direct link, but I haven't had a lot of luck putting web sites on BBSs.)

Greenland paddles are a great alternative to a Euro-paddle, and, for my North Bay and Pintail, it's about the most logical and effective touring paddle I could have. (And I can make one in a few hours from a two-by-four for $5!)
