I'm currently using the Z-Spar Captain's varnish as a finish. (...and using the large HEPA-type air cleaner in the garage for an hour before and an hour after varnishing made my second coat of varnish go on much better.)

(a) Do you know if the Z-spar Captain's varnish can be sprayed with good results? (I finally broke down and bought a good bristle brush. For me, it works MUCH better than the foam disposables.)

(b) Does anyone know if Z-Spar's "Flagship" varnish has more UV protection than their "Captain's" varnish?

(b) I read on someone's web site that instead of traditional varnish, he preferred using the Interthane Plus clear coat...supposedly it was easy to apply by brush and has plenty of gloss, durability, etc...I don't know about the UV protection factor.

FWIW, my local West Marine distributor warned that Epiphanes brand varnish IS NOT compatible with West Systems epoxy finishes.
