When I put joined the deck and hull of my Osprey standard a couple of months ago, I just used pieces of 3" wide masking tape to hold them together. I put the epoxy in between the tape strips and let it cure. After removing the strips, I epoxied the whole seam. It seemed to work pretty well. I did the work in my basement.
