Hello, actually it's 41 pieces, the pieces are all cove and bead and the strips I used are only 1/2" and 1/4" wide and the shape of the design ended up with many pieces that are only 1/4" by 1/4". As for how to do it I'm sure there are many different ways to strip a design into a deck, the method I chose involves making a duplicate deck section cutting your design out from that deck then cutting a matching hole in the deck to recieve the stripped design.
