pound for pound kevlar is stonger than steel and kevlar cloth is much lighter than fiberglass, however there is no such thing as a pure kevlar boat. At the very least they will have some sort of resin holding the cloth together, so the weight savings is not that great. In real practice kevlar should always be used in combination with some other cloth or core. You can not in practice make a 3 pound boat out of kevlar if the fiberglass boat is 60 pounds, it will probably be in the 30 to 40 pound range and while it will be stronger in some situations, it may be a more frigile boat overall.
