Hi Paul,

A single layer of glass cloth on the outside of the hull will add stiffness and abrasion resistance (both good qualities.) It shouldn't add much weight. The fact that you're building with 1/8 inch plywood (approximately 3mm) would also tempt me to glass the hull.
