Ron, That may be your observation but it has not been mine. I filled the weave completely and did not varnish. I have NO problem with slipping on the wet epoxy. I wear thin water shoes with rubber soles or go bare foot and either way my feet stick like glue to the wet epoxy surface. Its a non issue. It may well be a problem with varnish though but I see no reason to varnish the inside of my cockpit. I use a skirt or a cockpit cover all the time.
