I think you're dead right!!

I posted something along these lines (pun) a few months ago, and I think that ignoring the strongback is the simplest way to go. The concerns with this method would be first to make sure forms 2 and 15 are perfectly aligned with each other.(this is easy with 2 sticks on ea. form horizontal) And second, that the strings are as far apart as possible to increase accuracy in alignment. I'm encouraged that in trying out that only 3/8" holes are needed. Fantastic.

A bonus would be to make sure one could sight across the strongback from hole to hole.
