Microlight can be a little tricky since you have to mix it with the epoxy yourself. It sounds like you may be mixing it a little dry. Also make sure you have mixed it thoroughly. If you can't get it to spread smoothly, build up a little extra and sand it back. The stuff is easy to sand.
