Good points Ed.

Ed's suggestion to use nylon strap tiedowns to hold down the deck is a good one. I bought a set from a truck top dealer. After you use them to construct the kayak you can use them to strap the boat to the roof rack or to tie down your motorcycle.

I used three of the straps. On over the main beam and the other two over the bulkheads. This bent the plywood easily and allowed me to insure that the scarfs had been properly shaped prior to the final fastening.

Make sure that your nail guide had enought depth to contact the hull at the greatest amount of excess overhand.

I used a router with a counter top bit to cut my deck. It really worked well!

Good luck! (You can't go wrong.)
