> to,that piont would stand out on the finished kayak wouldn't it? Hello, in Nick's book (page 133) there is a photo of a design stripe going through the sheer line. All you need do is strip the design that you want and then after all the stripping is done cut along the sheer line any strips that cross it. On the finished kayak you can't tell a butt joint from a cove and bead joint by looking at it. Kenny
